You can read and edit pages without creating an account or logging in.

However, to create an account (which is free), just click the "create an account or log in" link at the top right corner of any page. You only need a single login for all Wikia.

[edit] Advantages of registering

• Other users don't have to refer to you as "good ol' 72.245.54.89".
• You get your very own personal User page, where you can put just about anything you want, including, for example, a description of yourself, what lineages you are researching, etc. And jump straight to it from any other page of the wiki using the "My page" link.
• Third, it makes communication with others easier. People leave each other messages on the recipient's "Talk" page, which is what you find on clicking the "discussion tab" of the User page. It is, by the way, considered impolite to edit someone else's User page as distinct from the Talk page.
• Creating an account is the only way to clearly attribute your work. Without a username, edits you make on any Wikia will be attributed to the numerical IP address of your computer instead. Logging in therefore also increases your privacy, because your IP address will be hidden once you are logged in.
• There are many other benefits, such as user preferences (including appearance and some of the contents of displayed pages), the ability to move pages, and a watchlist to keep an eye on selected pages. See Help:Why create an account for some more arguments.
